How to Make Your Segway Scooter Faster (Speed Unlock Guide)

If you want to unlock your Segway scooter speed, this guide will explain how to upgrade the maximum speed and acceleration for your Segway scooter using a controller upgrade.

The controller upgrade allows for a higher top speed and stronger acceleration because it is a hardware upgrade that allows for more power from the battery to be output into the motor.

Segway Scooter Speed Unlock – How It Works

Our Bluetooth-programmable controllers allow for more ampere current from the battery into the motor.

By installing our Bluetooth-programmable controller, the user is also able to program settings such as:

  • Maximum speed per mode
  • Acceleration power per mode
  • Other programmable controller settings

It also allows the user to upgrade to larger batteries such as 72V batteries or later upgrade to a larger motor.

Segway Speed Unlock Installation – Step by Step

  1. Power off the scooter and disconnect the battery.
  2. Open the trunk to access the controller. If the controller cannot be accessed directly after removing the trunk, the rear panel might also need to be removed.
  3. Disconnect the controller plugs and the five coloured cables on the controller.
  4. Replace the old controller with the new controller. If the mounting holes differ, it is not necessary to secure all four screws — two screws are also fine.
  5. Turn on the bike and power on the controller. Open the controller app and use auto-learn to read the bike’s battery and motor settings.

More details will be provided after ordering, including the exact settings and further programming steps.

If the Controller Upgrade Is Still Not Enough, You Can Upgrade the Battery Next

If the controller upgrade is still not enough or if users want even more speed, they can consider upgrading to a larger performance battery.

For the Segway E110, E125, and E300, users can upgrade to a 72V battery in 70A, 100A, or 120A versions.

This battery can be directly placed into the foot tray without having to make any major modifications.

The battery upgrade will majorly increase the amount of range, but it will also increase the amount of performance since our upgraded batteries are equipped with a better BMS, which allows for more performance.

Will a speed unlock affect warranty or legality?

Performing repairs or replacing parts yourself may void your warranty. Please review the terms of your original purchase agreement to understand which modifications are allowed. Modifying your scooter to exceed legally permitted speed limits may render it illegal for use on public roads. After such modifications, do not operate the scooter in public traffic.
