Cold hands, wind around your legs and a muddy footboard are different problems. The most useful winter accessory is the one that addresses your daily ride and fits your exact scooter. You do not need to buy every accessory together.
Start with the exact scooter model
Record the full model name and year before shopping. NIU NQiX, FQiX and FQi are distinct families; a similar badge or body shape is not enough to confirm fit. For model-specific parts, compare mounting points, the footboard or handlebar shape, and any electrical connector.
If fit is unclear, send the model/year and clear photographs of the relevant area through customer service before ordering. Include existing accessories such as a top box, wider bodywork or a centre storage box that could affect clearance.
Which problem do you want to solve?
| Your main problem | Accessory to consider | Check before buying |
|---|---|---|
| Wind and spray around your legs | Fitted leg cover | Correct shape, fastening points and room to move your feet |
| Cold hands | Heated grips | Grip and throttle fit, supply voltage, connector and power requirements |
| Wind on your upper body | Model-specific windscreen | Mounting kit, screen height and seated sight line |
| Dirt and wear on the footboard | Fitted foot mat | Footboard shape, secure positioning and cleaning access |
| Exposure while parked | Scooter cover | Overall size and clearance for your top box or windscreen |
Leg covers: check the fitted version, not just the brand
A leg cover creates a barrier between your lower body and direct wind or spray. Fit and fastening matter: the cover should stay in its intended position without restricting steering, the controls or placing your feet on the ground.
Our NIU winter leg-cover listing has an NQIX option alongside separate versions for other NIU families. That is not confirmation of FQiX fit. For an FQiX, ask for the exact model/year and fastening arrangement to be checked before selecting a cover. A leg cover is not a substitute for suitable riding clothing.
Heated grips: physical and electrical fit both matter
Heated grips address cold hands, but a general NIU selector is not an exact fit guarantee. Check the grip dimensions, throttle arrangement, cable routing and available accessory-power connection. After installation, the throttle must move and close freely and wiring must not pull when steering.
The WUPP and SANG heated-grip listings are starting points for comparison. Confirm the correct version for your scooter before ordering. A 12V accessory requires the appropriate 12V accessory supply, not a direct connection to the scooter’s traction battery. Have the supply, polarity, connector, circuit capacity and protection checked by a qualified installer.
Windscreens: choose for your scooter and your riding position
Compare the separate NQiX windscreen and FQiX windscreen listings. Confirm the mounting kit, clearance around the handlebars and the height relative to your seated eye line. The tallest screen is not automatically the best choice for every rider.
A dashboard screen protector protects the display surface; it does not do the same job as a windscreen. Avoid choosing one as a substitute for the other.
Foot mats and parked-scooter covers
The NQiX foot carpet is an option for protecting the NQiX footboard from everyday dirt and wear. Check its shape and secure positioning against your scooter. A foot mat does not make the scooter waterproof and does not change tyre grip or braking performance.
For parking, check the NIU scooter-cover options against the complete size of your scooter, including a top box or windscreen. A parked-scooter cover is not riding equipment. Do not assume an NQiX cover fits an FQiX simply because both are listed under NIU accessories.
Keep small items organised
A charger storage case can help organise a compatible charger and cables. Measure your charger and allow room for its leads before choosing a case. A storage case is for carrying equipment, not for operating a charger inside a closed bag.
Before ordering: a short checklist
- Confirm full scooter model and year.
- Choose the problem you want to solve first.
- Match mounting points, dimensions and any electrical connection.
- Check which fittings, adapters or other parts the selected package includes.
- Check clearance with accessories already fitted to your scooter.
- Read the current product and checkout delivery information.
If you are choosing just one winter upgrade, start with the part of your commute that is least comfortable. Resolve fit before adding more accessories.
