Description
What’s the purpose of upgrading your controller?
If you are looking to unlock the maximum speed of your NIU scooter, you can use our Bluetooth programmable controller. The controller allows you to program the maximum speed and acceleration settings through a mobile app.
Besides increasing performance, our controller also features Bluetooth programming, which allows you to fine-tune multiple settings in order to adjust the driving style to your preferences. The controller also leaves room for future upgrades, such as a dual battery setup, a 72V battery conversion, or a different motor.
The controller is able to provide greater performance because it can supply a higher ampere output from the battery to the motor. In addition, the controller features an auto-learning function in order to read the battery and motor settings of your scooter.
What is the maximum speed I can achieve?
- NIU NQI – 70 km/h
- NIU MQI+ – 65 km/h
- NIU UQI GT – 65 km/h
- NIU UQI+ – 55 km/h
- NIU U1 – 55 km/h
Which controller should I pick?
- If you’re simply looking for a speed unlock, then the 80/260 controller is recommended.
- The 72/450 controller is sufficient if you want a speed unlock while also leaving room for upgrading to a 72V battery in the future.
- The larger controllers are mainly of interest if you are also considering upgrading the motor in the future together with larger performance batteries. If you are unsure, feel free to send us a message.
What do I receive with my purchase?

- Adapter depending on your scooter model
- Video installation instructions
- Video programming instructions
- Mobile app for programming
- After-sales customer support regarding installation and programming
FAQ
Why does this controller provide more speed and acceleration than the original controller?
The original controller has a limited power output, whereas our controller supports a significantly higher ampere output. This allows for significantly higher acceleration and top speed.
Will all original scooter features continue to work?
Yes. The controller does not affect the operation of the original features, such as the app, dashboard functions, GPS, alarm system, and other original scooter functions.
What settings can I program?
The controller has an extensive list of programmable options, including:
- Maximum speed for each riding mode
- Acceleration power for each riding mode
- Distribution of acceleration strength per RPM
- Battery settings for a dual-battery setup
- Battery settings for upgrading to a 72V setup
In the future, can I use this controller with a larger battery or a different motor?
Yes. The controller is fully programmable and features an auto-learning function. If you upgrade to a higher-voltage battery, you can simply change the battery settings in the controller. If you install a different motor, the auto-learning function can automatically configure the motor settings.
25 km/h or 45 km/h scooter variant
The speed of your scooter is limited by the original controller. By replacing the controller, the original speed limitation no longer applies. In other words, a 25 km/h or 45 km/h variant will not make a difference in increasing the speed of your scooter.
Am I able to undo the changes?
Yes. If you would like to revert back to your original controller, you can simply reinstall the original controller.
What if I don’t want to go maximum speed?
Since the controller is fully programmable, you can adjust the speed of each riding mode individually.
Am I still able to use all of the functions of my scooter?
Yes. After the controller upgrade, you will still be able to use the original functions of your scooter, such as the app, alarm, GPS location, and dashboard features.
What effect does the upgrade have on my battery?
If you drive normally and only occasionally use more throttle than before, the range will be similar to the original controller. However, if you drive at maximum performance, the battery range may decrease by approximately 20%.
Further Accessories
- If you want even more performance, you can go for one of our battery upgrades to further increase speed and performance.
- If you want to limit the speed on the go, you can go for one of our speed limiter accessories.

Also bought the 80/260 controller for my MQi+, which also was limited to 25 km/h. Had some issues removing the old controller since the original screws were stuck. After a slightly larger project than anticipated which involved using a mini rotary cutter to cut new grooves into two of the screws I finally reached the point that I could install the new controller. The original screws were too short to fit the new controller in my case, but after buying new ones that were long enough installing it was easy. The mini program used for the controller was intuitive, at least with the instructions included from Escootparts and their fantastic support, available on Whatsapp. My MQI+ feels like a new scooter now, even though I set the first of the 3 speed settings to roughly the old settings it’s just a lot more responsive AND I can now switch to a higher “gear” and go faster.
I paired the new controller with a new 50A battery which is also really good. I can’t speak to it’s long term quality yet as I’ve only had it a couple of months but it feels sturdy and has the expected capacity with going from a 30A battery to a 50A.

Bought the 80/260 controller for my MQI+ that was limited to 25 km/h. After a bit of tinkering and awesome support through Whatsapp it now works great!
I’m now able to go about 50-55 km/h on a straight road. It would probably be faster if i didn’t weigh around 120 kg + moped 60 kg. The acceleration and hill climbing made a big difference as well. The app that lets you configure the controller shows a lot of information, like how many amps is currently being used, battery voltage and more.
Keep in mind that i’m still using the original NIU battery which is limited to 45A bus current. I’m waiting on a 48V 65Ah battery from escootparts that has 80A max current. It’s gonna be even more powerfull with that battery.
All in all i’m very happy with this purchase.
